The answer to our economic problems is much simpler than we are being led to believe. Cut everyone's taxes by 50% for the next two years. Not just income taxes, cut the medicare, social security, unemployment and ALL federal taxes witheld from our paychecks by our employers. We should also include the employers in this plan. Cut ALL federal taxes on corporations [even Exxon-Mobil and Halliburton] as this will free up more money to invest in hiring, exploration, etc. 

 

   I realize that this idea has a snowflakes chance in a steel mill of being pursued by Hogzilla as it would put the power to fix our economy in the hands of we the people. They will never let such a thing happen because they so completely cherish their power. The federal government types cannot fathom that they don't have all of the answers. They pursue one crack pot program after another and after it harms the citizens they come back to us for more money and power. They blame the failure of the previous idiocy on Wall Street greed or evil multi-national conglomerates or global warming when the real culprit is them. We the people are also culpable because we continually fall for the hype and hysteria foisted upon us by the smarmy snake oil salesmen at election time.

 

   The American electorate is suffering from the Stockholm Syndrome. We have fallen in love with our captors. When they abuse us, we attribute it on their stressful jobs and crushing responsibilities. Then for good measure we blame ourselves for not being more supportive. The first thing told to a rape victim in counseling is that it was not her fault. She should feel no shame over her victimization. We the people have been raped so many times by so many politicians, we seem to believe that this is normal and we probably deserve it. We did after all burn supper last night.

 

   It's time to throw all of the bums out and start over. There is another election in less than two years. Let's get to work.
